Thivanka Solangarachchi pleaded for her husband's life at a Press Conference held at the Opposition Leader's office and also revealed that she was pregnant with his child.

Her husband was the chairman of the Kotikawatte-Muleriyawa Council and quit his post to support Common Opposition Presidential candidate Maithripala Sirisena.
He had previously said that there was a plan to assassinate him.
