The 13th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) exhibition presently underway at Nanning will help strengthen Sri Lanka’s relations with China, said minister Risath Bathiudeen.

Addressing the exhibition’s Sri Lanka investment conference yesterday (11), he urged Chinese investors to make use of the opportunities available in Sri Lanka.

Political and economic stability, strategic location in the silk route and the investment services provided make the country attractive for investment as well as tourism, said the minister.

Sri Lanka boasts of a vast range of export products including Ceylon tea, best branded garments and tyres as well as gems, cinnamon, ceramicware, fish and handicraft, he noted.

Sri Lankan Consul general Shanika Dissanayake delivered the welcome address, while deputy director of the BOI Ratnaweera delivered a speech.

President of the Sri Lanka-China Journalists Forum Nalin Aponso and its secretary Saranga Wijeratne also participated.
