JHU condemns incidents in Malaysia Featured

The JHU has strongly condemned the attack on the Sri Lankan high commissioner in Malaysia, harassment of Buddhist monks at Kuala Lumpur temple and the threats to ex-president Mahinda Rajapaksa during his tour of that country.

At a media briefing today (07), national organizer of the party Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe said some were trying to accuse the Malaysian government over these incidents.

The Malaysian authorities have commendably supported in the arrest of LTTE leaders like KP and to defeat separatism in Sri Lanka, he pointed out.

Noting that Malaysia is the motherland of S.J.V. Chelvanayagam, the father of Tamil separatism in Sri Lanka, he said Rajapaksa should have expected trouble when he visited that country.

Five LTTE supporters with Tamil Nadu origin have been arrested in connection with the incidents, Warnasinghe said, adding Sri Lankan monks, athletes and military officers had come under attack in the South Indian state.

Sri Lanka should not have a wrong attitude about a friendly nation like Malaysia, he said.

The JHU national organizer urged authorities to take measures diplomatically to see that there would be no repetitions.
