Attacker of Dinesh Dodamgoda remanded

The person who badly assaulted ex UNP MP Dinesh Dodamgoda two days ago has been produced before courts and remanded for 14 days.

After the assault, the attacker, Isira Asela Dissanayake, had got admitted to Kalubowila Hospital with the support of former MP Rosie Senanayake who is related to him, and remained there until this afternoon.

The hospital discharged him as he had no medical condition needing in-house treatment, and he was arrested by the police thereafter.

Once he was ordered to be remanded, Rosie has exerted pressure on prison officials to send the suspect to prison hospital, according to reports reaching 'Sri Lanka Mirror'.

Suspect is Rosie’s relative

The suspect, a resident of Etul Kotte, is said to be a relative of Dayan Dissanayake, the ex-husband of Rosie’s sister.

A former employee of SriLankan Airlines, he is presently working at Qatar Airways.

In 2013, he took part in the Mr. Novice bodybuilding competition.

His knuckles had got bruised due to his having used them to beat up Dodamgoda, reports say.

There are rumours that he is addicted to a narcotic drug and is a regular trouble-maker.

Dodamgoda, who had received serious injuries in the assault, underwent two surgeries and is warded at the ICU of Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital.
