Injustice for special needs child at scholarship exam Featured

The Department of Examinations say that a probe will be initiated on a injustice faced by a special needs child at the Grade V scholarship examination held last Sunday.

The mother of the child had complained that the supervisor of the exam centre at the Welihena primary school in Akuressa, Matara had failed to provide sufficient facilities for the child.

She adds that a formal document with directions to provide special facilities was headed over to the supervisor after being signed by the deputy education commissioner. Nevertheless, her child was not facilitated.

She hopes that justice will prevail.

Speaking to media, Education commissioner - W.M.N.J. Pushpakumara said that regardless of the circumstances, sitting for the Grade V scholarship examination is a right all children of the country are entitled to.

The Education commissioner added he had called for a report on this regard.
