The opposition leader has earlier urged the Police to investigate the alleged agreement distributed to the media by former UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake.

Mr. Wickremesinghe alleged that his signature and that of Mr. Sirisena had been forged.

Speaking on this regard, police spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said,“The CID has taken over the investigation with a Superintendent of Police headinga team of detectives. We will obtain the assistance of the Examiner of Questioned Documents and other specialists. The CID is currently tracing the original document because the only document we have in our possession is a photocopy.”
