The aim is said to be to attract human resources that could contribute in the medium and long terms to the economic development of the country.
The job categories to be dropped are professionals in the health sector including general practitioners, surgeons and anaesthetists, and engineers, tax accountants, advocates and solicitors.
Australia’s Federal Health Department is exerting pressure on the Immigration and Emigration Ministry to drop these job categories.
The Department points out that those educated in Australia themselves could fill those vacancies, and presently there is more supply than the demand.
