Rear Admiral C.W.B. Wettewa is supervising the investigation into charges that Yoshitha had gone overseas on 27 occasions without informing the Navy.
In addition to the laws of the country, armed forces members are governed by the military law too, and can be punished by both laws if found guilty of wrongdoing.
They should respect the military law not only when performing official duty, but during periods of overseas trips for personal reasons, hospitalization, private functions and at public places.
In view of Yoshitha going unpunished over the charges, other members of the Navy who have violated discipline cannot be sentenced too, the sources add.
