Gamage made the comment at a meeting with prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and several others today.
UNP ministers explained that courts have banned the protest march from entering the town, after considering submissions made by the police that the president is to attend a religious event at a school and temple in Mawanella.
When contacted, a senior official of the president’s media unit confirmed to Sri Lanka Mirror that the president was due to attend several ceremonies in Mawanella tomorrow morning.
The president has instructed the IGP to ensure that no participant of the protest march be harassed, said the official.
The ‘Jana Satana’ march ended on its first day today at Ganetenna near Mawanella town.
Police have been deployed at the location since this afternoon.
