The director general of civil aviation has approved the school by Samith Abeygunawardena, which owns five Cessna airplanes.
According to reports reaching Sri Lanka Mirror, the school is located at the same parking facility at Ratmalana Airport that housed the now-closed Cosmos Aviation of ex-MP Sajin Vaas Gunawardena.
Meanwhile, the Anti Corruption Front says Gunawardena was yet to pay the monthly rent of Rs. 415,000 due for the parking facility since 2011.
The ACF has lodged a complaint in this regard to the Bribery Commission, which also questions the Bank of Ceylon credit facility given to Gunawardena to buy four airplanes from Cessna Aircraft of the US.
Started in 2009, Cosmos Aviation was the first school to issue flight licenses in the country.
