A protest demonstration was held today (December) 23 opposite the Fort Railway station in Colombo over the use and abuse of state property and resources by President Mahinda Rajapaksa ahead of next month's election.
It was organised by the people's movement for democracy.
Member of Parliament and JVP heavyweight Vijitha Herath told the protesters that it was time the abuse of State property, State employees and the State media for personal gain ahead of the January 8 election by the President must be stopped.
