The GMOA said the work stoppage was aimed at bringing six issues to the attention of authorities.
They include the ECTA agreement, registration of SAITM students in the Medical Council, national drugs policy, denial of education of children of doctors who get transfers and who return from overseas training.
However, maternity, children’s, cancer and kidney treatments will not be affected.
The GMOA said they would go for an indefinite strike if they demands are not met.
