A Colombo district UNP MP has given between Rs. 500,000 to Rs. 1.5 million to heads of several media institutions to get them publish reports against Central Bank governor Arjun Mahendran, reports say.
The prime minister has ordered an immediate inquiry, and to punish those who gave and accepted the money.
When he gave the order at his official room at Sirikotha yesterday (30), also present were ministers Lakshman Kiriella, Kabir Hashim and Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, reports add.
