Political influence denied in sexual bribe probe

Political influence denied in sexual bribe probe Featured

Colombo University’s vice chancellor Prof. Lakshman Dissanayake denies political influence in the inquiry against former dean of media at Sripali Campus Pradeep Weerasinghe over sexual bribe charges.

A five-member committee looking into the matter has been asked to submit a report speedily, he said.

However, the Sri Lanka Human Rights Centre alleges there is political pressure to save Weerasinghe from the charges.

In a letter to the VC, the Centre alleges the university senate has prepared a report that absolves the accused, and that the senate guidelines are not being followed in the investigation.
