Democratic Party leader, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka is due to join the UNP on June 30, reports says.

He will obtain membership of the party from prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at Sirikotha at 11.00 am.

At the upcoming local government polls, several members of the DP are due to contest on the UNP ticket.

Meanwhile, there are reports that Fonseka will be appointed the Kelaniya organizer of the UNP.

Fonseka said discussions were ongoing, but not decision has been taken yet.
