Auditor general Gamini Wijesinghe said a cabinet subcommittee recommendations have also been included.

The new act intends to give more powers to the auditor general, as per a promise given by the present government.

That includes powers to recover losses caused by a public servant to the state.

The new act also will make the auditor general more powerful and independent, in order to ensure more transparency in financial affairs of the state.
