The measure follows warnings by geologists that a new tectonic plate was being created between India and Australia.
It is assumed this tectonic plate will be located 750 km away from Sri Lanka.
The National Building Research Organization’s landslide survey and risk management chief R.M.S. Bandara is leading the research which has already been going on for around two years.
Steps have been taken to speed up the research with the assistance of the University of California.
