The education ministry is looking into the teacher who had thus punished the grade 10 student, for having drawn a line by pen on the hand of one of her classmates.

As she had refused to go to school after the incident, her parents have got the girl admitted to a new school.

The teacher, a woman, has threatened the girl with further punishment if the school’s reputation was harmed over the matter.

Dambulla zonal education director W.M.I. Herath said he received a complaint over the phone, and that the he has asked the caller to make a written complaint.
