After realising that it has now become obvious that Common Opposition Candidate Maithripala Sirisena's popularity is on the rise following poll surveys and Intelligence reports, Minister Basil Rajapaksa is now looking at "alternatives" to prevent a possible defeat of the President, government insiders have revealed.
The government's Intelligence Unit has already conveyed to the President of a move to force and change public opinion in the towns and villages through what is called Micro Groups.
To prevent the imminent defeat, Minister Basil Rajapaksa has already proposed to the President allocating the Prime Minister's post to a senior UNPer according to highly placed inside sources.
