Concessions will be given for disaster-affected electricity consumers, including the cancellation of their outstanding bills, says power minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.

They will also be given a grace period from July to pay the May and June bills.

Restoration of electricity connections to their homes and checking the internal wiring will be done free of charge too, he says.

Also, small entrepreneurs consuming less than 42 KVA a months will be allowed to pay their May and June bills in six month installments within a six month period from July.

Island wide mobile services will begin from Puttalam on June 18 to resolve electricity issues of these customers, the minister adds.
