They were discussing a proposal to reduce the age of housemaids to be sent to countries in the ME.

Several ministers, including Wijedasa Rajapakse said sending women to ME should be stopped.

However, Sarath Fonseka asked as to how the economic crisis could be countered without the remittances from the housemaids.

No final decision has been taken.
