Retired senior DIG Anura Senanayake, presently in remand custody in connection with the ruggerite Mohamed Wasim Thajudeen killing, had been involved in another murder when he was the senior DIG in charge of Colombo, it is alleged.

A senior SP has revealed to the CID details of how two brothers of a Tamil family living in Bambalapitiya had got involved in a dispute and one had given a contract to kill the other, for which Senanayake had given protection of the police.

The senior SP, who investigated the incident, has told the CID that Senanayake had influenced him during the investigation.

The CID is investigating the matter.
