Environmentalists blame the the recent landslides in Aranayake, Kegalle following heavy rains mainly on a private hydro-power plant built there a few years ago.
A dam has been built across Ahupini Ella at Horawwala for this power plant, causing severe environmental damage, they have warned previously too.
This private power plant belongs to a company owned by the family of a controversial minister in the government.
