The annual report of CTC says Sri Lankans consume cigarettes worth Rs. 250 million each day.

More than 22,000 persons die due to smoking-related illnesses a year, at the rate of 65 deaths a day, a WHO and health ministry survey shows.

Two days of events have been organized to mark international no-tobacco day that falls tomorrow (30).

The health ministry says that 31 per cent of the population does smoking, a vast majority of them in the age group of over 40 years.
