The Colombo high court today (26) set aside, effective until June 09, a magisterial order that permitted releasing 15 unlicensed elephants and tuskers to their owners on Rs. 30 million bonds each.

The high court considered a revision application made by the attorney general against chief magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya’s order previously to free the elephants for purposes of the Vesak festival and pageants.
