Support for Maithripala brings down Kotte MC Featured

The Kotte Municipal Council has virtually come to a standstill following the exit of three members of the ruling party who quit to support Common Opposition candidate Maithripala Sirisena, the Council's chairman Janaka Ranawaka said.

On Monday (December 15) one more member of ruling party Council Danuka Vishwajith quit to support Maithripala taking the number of crossovers to four.

The Council initially had 14 ruling party members while the Opposition had six.

The current standing is now 10 members to the ruling party and 10 to the Opposition.
