As per this file, questions have been raised over how Senarath has acquired a sum of Rs. 125 million.

He has told the Inland Revenue Department that the money was obtained as loans, with mediation by his mother in law, from two gem merchants of Ratnapura separately, at Rs. 75 million and Rs. 50 million.
