Upcountry supplies to the market have come down by 80 pc, while low-country supplies too, have declined.
Wholesale prices have gone up – from Rs. 60 – Rs. 80 to Rs. 100 – Rs. 120 for leeks, – from Rs. 60 – Rs. 80 to Rs. 100 – Rs. 120 for carrots, from Rs. 80 – Rs. 100 to Rs. 130 – Rs. 180 for beans, from Rs. 50 – Rs. 70 to Rs. 70 – Rs. 90 for cabbages.
The tomato price has risen to Rs. 120 – Rs. 150 and Rs. 70 – Rs. 100 for capsicum.
More than 4,000 farming families supplying vegetables to Dambulla have been affected by the floods.
