An order has been passed, forbidding Colombo Additional Magistrate - Thilina Gamage and former DIG Anura Senanayake from travelling overseas, reports say.

Magistrate Gamage, who is facing several charges including the illegal possession of an elephant calf without a valid license, is currently sent on compulsory leave.

Fort Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya noticed Magistrate Gamage to appear before the CID on May 25 by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court to record a statement on this regard.

Anura to be arrested

Meanwhile, former DIG Anura Senanayake was informed to arrive at the CID last afternoon (20) to give a statement on the charges he is facing over the Wasim Thajudeen murder.

Senanayake is facing charges including concealing and destroying of evidence and covering up investigations into the murder of rugger player Wasim Thajudeen.

Instead of appearing before the CID, Senanayake is said to have gone to the Veyangoda area for a 'Shanti Karma' last afternoon. On his way back, he had visited the residence of a former bigwig of the Attorney General Department and pleaded to save him.

In the last few days, the CID had obtained lengthy statements from Senanayake.

According to sources from the police headquarters, it is said that the ministry of Law and Order has passed orders to the IGP to deploy a special police team on Monday to arrest Senanayake if he continues to evade appearing before the CID, and produce him before courts.
