No oil contamination: Water supply to Colombo continues Featured

There is no truth to rumours that water being distributed by the Ambatale pumping station has been contaminated with oil, says the National Water Board.

Officer of the Board’s emergency call centre Janaka said there was no disruption in water supply to Colombo.

The centre was receiving calls inquiring about rumours that the water has been contaminated with oil, a dam at the pumping station was about to burst and that supply to Colombo was to be suspended.

Referring to reports that if the water pumps at Ambatale went three more feet under water, supply to Colombo would come to a halt, he said no situation has arisen.
