Pressure to release unlicensed baby elephants Featured

The political authority is pressurizing the Attorney General’s Department and the police to return all unlicensed baby elephants presently in the custody of the Wildlife Department, reliable sources told Sri Lanka Mirror.

Colombo chief magistrate Gihal Pilapitiya is to take up one such case today (18).

He said on October 20 that those baby elephants would be given back to their owners on the promise of bonds if other unlicensed baby elephants were not arrested.

Several persons too, have been arrested for having kept baby elephants without licenses.
