Rugby coaches are facing whiplash over this defeat which took place despite Sri Lanka strongly defeating Singapore by 42 - 17 in the first game of the tournament.
It is said that both coaches who had joined the tournament lack coaching experience. The two are namely Fazil Marija and Rajiv Perera.
Marija has no experience as a coach while Perera is just the assistant coach of Havelocks SC.
According to internal sources, the team has felt the lack of a proper coach during the game against Malaysia.
Marija is said to have joined the team as coach on the influence of a prominent minister, while taking a break after an injury. According to rumours, the minister has influenced thus in return for promising to conceal details of a Rugby bigwig's fraudulent activities.
If not for this deal, Sri Lanka which is at at No. 38 in the world Rugby ratings, would not be defeated to Malaysia, ranked at No. 58, say critics.
Sri Lanka will play against Phillipines tomorrow (14).
