But before he gets the job, Gammanpila will have to fulfill a commitment where he will have to tour the country and tarnish the image of the JHU at public rallies following an order given by President Mahinda Rajapaksa to minister Basil Rajapaksa.

Currently the chief SLFP organiser for Maharagama is its mayor Kanthi Kodikara.

Meanwhile the chief minister of the Western Provincial Council Prasanna Ranatunga has made a request to reinstate Gammanpila as the minister of Agriculture, Water Resources, Industries and Cultural Affairs in the Council.

Gammanpila relinquished his portfolios in the Western Provincial Council after the JHU decided to quit the government and support Common Opposition Candidate Maithripala Sirisena.
There was no reaction from Gammanpila over his reinstatement in the Council.
