The parliamentarian had made the claim during a media briefing in Colombo today (04).

He had further claimed that Packer was seen at Colombo Hilton today and no one, including the media knew until he arrived.

He further said that the reason for Packer's visit is yet to be revealed and that the previous government had decided to halt the projects proposed by Packer's Crown company.

However, 'Sri Lanka Mirror' has confirmed from the airport and from the Colombo Hilton Hotel that Packer had not arrived in the country.

Usually Packer uses his private jet to travel overseas and the airport confirmed that no such jet had landed in Sri Lanka.

In late January last year, Packer’s Crown Group abandoned plans for the $350m development, which would have included a casino and a luxury resort, after the government also withdrew generous tax concessions granted under the previous regime.
