Yala season cultivations will begin between May 08 and 10, and the organization will provide five kilos each of seed paddy free of charge to farmers who cultivate traditional paddy varieties, he says.
He says 50,000 acres will be cultivated with traditional paddy varieties, while another 100,000 acres cultivated without the use of agrochemicals.
A pesticide using margosa seeds, compost fertilizer and other organic fertilizer will be used in the cultivation, he says.
As an alternative to urea fertilizer, 100 million gliricidia plants, one million Mee and sunflower plants and one million margosa plants will be planted, says Rathana Thera.
