Sri Lanka Mirror has received pictures of their meeting, in which Prof. G.L. Peiris too, was present.
Weeratunga has rejected the allegations leveled against him, and said he has no intention of returning to Sri Lanka due to figures linked to the previous regime being avenged.
He has gone onto say that he was still in Kiev, Ukraine, and claimed to have a letter of assurance from the Ukrainian government, issued on 01 April 2015, that he would not be questioned over the accusation against him.
Weeratunga has also said that he has informed the Ukrainian ambassador in India, who is also accredited to Sri Lanka, and foreign minister Mangala Samaraweera about his innocence.
He also says he has no connection to the death of an employee at the Sri Lankan embassy in Russia, Noel Ranaweera.
CCTV footage confirms it was due to an accident by a Russian lorry driver.
Weeratunga adds that he will issue all related details to the Sri Lankan media.
