New IGP commences work : OIC arrested over Thajudeen murder

Former OIC of the Narahenpita police station - Sumith Perera has been arrested a short while ago (April 20), over the Wasim Thajudeen murder case.

Perera was arrested by the CID over charges of concealing evidence.

He was summoned to the CID today to obtain a statement and was arrested after lengthy questioning.

Meanwhile, we learn that a senior DIG is also to be arrested soon, over the case.

Earlier today, the new Inspector General of Police - Pujith Jayasundara received his letter of appointment from President Maithripala Sirisena.
