The decision to raise the VAT from 11 per cent to 15 pc from May 02 will severely inconvenience consumers, noted the movement’s president Ranjith Withanage in his letter.
He asked the PM to ensure rights of consumers.
The national movement for the protection of consumer rights has written to the prime minister, asking that the health, communication and wholesale and retail trade sectors be exempted from VAT amendments.
