In a rare occasion in which a British premier has extended greetings for the Sinhala-Tamil New Year, Cameron says he understands the importance of celebrating the occasion with families.
He also commends the Sri Lankan expatriates in Britain who contribute to society through their professions, businesses etc.
Pointing out his already declared intention to make further contributions towards the establishment of human rights in Sri Lanka and for reconciliation, Cameron says he has noted the progress made in these fields since the new government took over.
He adds that he will work with the Sri Lankan government in order for all communities to set aside rivalries of the past and unite, BBC Sandeshaya reports.
