STF personnel can get promotions during a short period, become members of the normal force and get higher positions.

Joining the STF as a sub-inspector, one can become an inspector within four years and a chief inspector within the next six years.

However, it takes 12 years for a normal police officer to get promoted to sub inspector.

Nearly 100 STF members who joined the normal police force recently have already been given OIC postings.

The STF has experience in VIP security, but does not have understanding about civil administration, public relations etc., leading to issues.
