The event, named 'Jeewithe Amadaara', was held at the auditorium of the Media ministry in Colombo yesterday (31).

Renowned media and political personalities, including special projects minister - Sarath Amunugama, Deputy media minister - Karunaratne Paranavithana, Leader of the Frontline Party - Deepthi Kumara Gunaratne attended the event.

Wijetunga, a former editor of the magazine 'Desathiya', was also a profound film critic and cultural intellect who penned beautiful lyrics which are still much treasured by music fans.

Several of his songs were performed at the event.
