Gravity-defying dance in wind tunnel (video)

An impressive clip has emerged of a contestant dancing in a large vertical wind tunnel as part of the Wind Games 2016, held in Spain.

The footage, captured last weekend in Castello D'Empuries, shows the games' winner Leo Volkov performing the aerial dance moves.

Dressed in white is Polish athlete Maja Kuczynska took home the silver medal in the freestyle event.

The confident sportsperson, who describes herself as a 'bodyflight artist' on her Facebook page, holds a number of challenging poses, including the splits, during her stunning routine.

2016 is the third year the competition has run. Athletes are expected to do innovative interpretive dance in the air.

The competition sees athletes go head-to-head in a number of different events within a wind tunnel.

The arena, originally intended for aerodynamic research, recreates the feeling of flying.
