Sinhala translation of Thamilini’s book in April! Featured

A book written by women’s leader of the LTTE political wing Subramaniam Sivakamy alias Thamilni, who died in October, is to be released in February in the Tamil language, according to reports reaching Sri Lanka Mirror.

A Sinhala translation is due in April.

During the final stages of the war, Thamilini surrendered to the military and was rehabilitated for around 2 ½ years at the Poonthottam camp prior to her release in 2013.

During her rehabilitation period, she had devoted most of the time to learn Sinhala.

Her final writings included a note that she was sorry that she had to raise arms against such noble people.

Thamilini has requested that proceeds from the sale of her book be used for the children’s ward of Maharagama cancer hospital, where she died aged 43 years.

Persons made inquiries at hospital

Meanwhile, following her death, a group had gone to the hospital and harassed the doctor who treated her, asking as to who had admitted to her hospital.

The doctor was threatened for having treated her, but he has said that he had not been concerned by the identity of the patient, but that his intention was to save her from death.
