Paintings created living in cave for 30 years

A man who has spent 30 years living in a cave has revealed the works of art he's been inspired to make while living like a hermit.

And living in a cave, although it might sound as far removed from modern life as possible, has inspired legions online.

Song Chuanzhong is 67, and has spent most of the last three decades living in the cave in Guizhou, near Goupitanzhen in Yuqing county, China.

At about 60 metres squared, the space is petite and features nature's own decor - in the way of stalagmites, stalactites and columns, reports Shanghaiist.

Song's name for the cave, Qing Xuan, means 'quiet and mysterious', and the title would seem to fit the man himself, as he's lived in the most minimalist of ways for all this time. It's paid off, though.

The inspiration he's gained from the space has enabled him to sell paintings to people on the coast and in Hong Kong.

So he'll probably stay in the cave for a while to come.
