Gravity-defying sculptures by Adrian Gray

The world's leading 'stone balancer' has created a series of gravity-defying sculptures inspired by the Isle of Man's rugged coastline to show off the destination's natural beauty.

Rocks appear to float above each other, as if by magic, in these incredible photographs by Adrian Gray who scaled the island to find the perfect settings for his artwork.

The Dorset artist spends hours scouring the land to select the ideal sized rocks, boulders and pebbles for his one-off sculptures.

Taking inspiration from the varied natural environment Adrian meticulously balanced the stones, understanding their individual weight distribution, shape and interaction with one another, to erect the most awe-inspiring monuments.

The stunning set of images has now been released by The Isle of Man's tourist board to highlight the location's landscape in a 'quirky' way.

Each artwork was assembled to reflect the environment in which it was placed, from the calming and flat pebble beaches of the Point of Ayre in the north, the imposing landscape of the Island's only mountain - Snaefell - in the centre, to the rugged coastline scaling the south.

Artist Adrian said: 'Stone balancing is all about paying close attention to feelings - from the feel of gravity to secure the perfect balance, to understanding the feeling of a place so as to marry the stones perfectly with their surroundings. The Isle of Man has such an innate tranquillity, combined with a stunning natural beauty that pairing this with the calming nature of a perfect balance was simple.'
