Ooh, steamy! X Files fans always wanted the series’ biggest stars, David Duchovny, 54, and Gillian Anderson, 46, to end up together. Well, now they’ve (sort of) got their wish! Gillian surprised David during one of his concerts — and planted a smooch on him after she joined him on stage for a surprise performance. The picture proof is everything!

David, who was performing at The Cutting Room in NYC on May 12, didn’t know he had a special guest in the audience — none other than his X-Files co-star, Gillian!

While fans have always held out hope that David and Gillian would find their happily ever after with one another, don’t let this kiss fool you. Gillian has made it very clear that while there is “an attraction” to David, the pair will never be more than friends. Dang!

“Now that it’s over, I can tell you: no.” Gillian told The Huffington Post in March 2014, “It’s a nice idea, but it’s not going to happen.”

But why?! The 46-year-old explained that she and David got too close during the show’s nine-season run. “I think we know each other too well. I think we probably know each other better than we know our spouses at any time that we might have had spouses,” she said.

Still, the actress admitted that sparks did fly between her and David. “There is an attraction. There might even be more than an attraction, but it’s not going to happen. And it’s that frisson that has made it interesting in the series and continues to make it interesting,” she revealed.
