The National Movement for Consumer Rights Protection (NMCRP) has submitted a written complaint with the Director of Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka regarding the matter.
NMCRP has requested the due authorities to take action regarding the prevailing situation.
The letter reveals that according to the new regulations the amount that should be charged for a call which worth Rs 2 is Rs 2.54 and a call which worth Rs 1 is Rs 1.27.
However, the particular company charge Rs 2.66 for a call worth Rs 2 and Rs 1.33 for a call worth Rs1.
The NMCRP states that by adding the particular charges the company unjustly earns an additional amount of Rs 1 million per day.
