Keynote Speech titled “Open Borders: Trade, Migration, Entrepreneurship and Prosperity “ will be made by Ken Schoolland, President of the International Society for Individual Liberty, Associate Professor of Economics and Director of the Entrepreneurship Center at Hawaii Pacific University, a member of the Board of Scholars for the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii, and a member of the Mont Pelerin Society.
Schoolland is author of The Adventures of Jonathan Gullible: A Free Market Odyssey, now published in 77 editions in 50 languages, and touring as a theatrical production on 3 continents. The book was endorsed by Milton Friedman and has won several awards for excellence in economics education. Schoolland's recent research is on the Right to Property Movement in Gujarat, India. He has written and spoken internationally on the importance of migration to liberty, entrepreneurship, and prosperity. He lived in Japan where he taught economics at Hakodate University and authored the book Shogun's Ghost: The Dark Side of Japanese Education.
The event will also accommodate a speech by W.A. Wijewardena, Former Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Sri Lanka, under the topic “The Ghost of B R Shenoy should revisit Sri Lanka today”.
The two speeches will be followed by a panel discussion carried out by the panelists Samantha Ranathunga – Chairman, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Managing Director / CEO, CIC Holdings , Dr. Nishan de Mel, CEO, Verité Research & Dumith Fernando, Executive Chairman Asia Securities Ltd:
