“The ornamental fish sector has a great promise for exports growth,” Bandula Egodage, Chairman, Export Development Board said in a statement.
“This sector is one of the highest return on investment in our exports. In the recent past, EDB has spent over 40 million rupees for its development,”
“Realising its potential, EDB has been working hands-on in areas such as Polonnaruwa and encouraging the breeders.”
In 2014 Sri Lanka’s ornamental fish exports grew 17 percent to 12.5 million US dollars from 2013’s 10.7 million US dollars.
These comments were made at a press briefing held to announce Sri Lanka’s victories at Aquarama 2015, an international ornamental fish aquatic plant and fish accessories trade exhibition held in Singapore from 28-31 May.
