Indian businessmen pour into Sri Lanka Featured

Seventeen businessmen from India arrived in the country yesterday (January 21) on a feasibility study of Sri Lanka's export products and investment opportunities, the Mumbai Counsellor General Saroja Sirisena told the media.

The 17 businessmen will also jointly hold a workshop in coordination with the Commerce ministries of the two countries while in Sri Lanka.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already told his media that he was looking forward to a visit by the new President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena.

Modi also told the Indian media he was confident of further strengthening of trade and investment ties with the new government in Sri Lanka.

Since the election of Maithripala Sirisena as President, several Indian businessmen are seeking more trading opportunities in the island according to market experts in Sri Lanka.
